Shawn started his career in public practice in 1989 with Vodden, Bender and Seebach, a small regional firm in Southwestern Ontario.  In 1995, after starting a family, Shawn moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick to work for Grant Thornton. A year later he returned to Southwestern Ontario to work in a local firm. During these career building years, Shawn spent time developing his assurance, accounting and advisory skills working with municipal, not-for-profit, agricultural and agri-related organizations, as well as privately held businesses.  At the same time Shawn developed a strong background in personal, corporate and trust taxation. In 2000, Shawn and his family moved to Iqaluit, Nunavut where he became a partner in Lester Landau (formerly MacKay Landau) and then took over as managing partner in 2005.

Volunteer Activities

Shawn has always believed in giving back to the community.  Through the years he has been involved in his local church and as a volunteer board member of organizations. Shawn continued this service when moving to Iqaluit by becoming part of a local church where he has been involved as a council member, teacher and treasurer.  As well, Shawn has been part of the Chamber of Commerce support network for many years.  He has been involved in the Iqaluit Chamber of Commerce as treasurer from 2001 to 2012 and president from 2012 to 2015, the Kivalliq Chamber of Commerce as treasurer since 2018 and a Canadian Chamber of Commerce director since 2018. In 2012, the Iqaluit Rotary Club presented Shawn with the Paul Harris Fellowship award for his contribution to the community.  In 2016, He received the Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
